Did you know your body is made up of a whopping 70% water?
It’s no wonder you need to stay properly hydrated in order to have more energy, reduce food cravings and slow down the aging process.
But younger skin and a boost of energy are just the tip of the iceberg.
Water is essential to:
1. Keeping your cells functioning at their best
2. Transporting oxygen and nutrients to all of your major organs
3. Breaking down the food you eat into essential nutrients
and so much more!
But how much water do you NEED?
That depends on things like your age, body size, how active you are, and what your diet looks like.
A general rule is to drink half your body weight in ounces (150 lbs = 75 oz. of water).
Knowing how much water you SHOULD be drinking is only half the puzzle though.
How do you make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day? ESPECIALLY if you can’t seem to bring yourself to like the taste of water! (I mean, who likes the taste of nothing right?)
And once you’ve figured out a way to drink enough water, how do you keep track of it all?
I want to share some of my top tips for spicing up your water game as well as a few tools I recommend to help you keep track of your daily water intake.
First things first, if you’d rather eat a jean jacket than drink your body weight in plain old water then check out my top three tips that’ll make you WANT to drink more water:
Tip 1: Put a slice of lemon or orange or chop up a cucumber and add a pinch of mint to your water bottle if you don’t like the taste of plain water.
Tip 2: Aim for better water quality. There are plenty of at-home water filters you can purchase and if you’re always on the go opt for a water filter bottle. And filtered water, believe it or not, tastes SO MUCH BETTER.
Tip 3: Make it a goal to drink a cup of water or even tea first thing when you wake up and a cup in the evening before you go to bed. There are SO MANY great-tasting teas out there too, add a splash of honey or some coconut milk and I guarantee you won’t even remember you’re even drinking water.
And if you’re ready to step up your water game and track how much water you drink throughout the day then check these apps out:
It can be hard to drink enough water throughout the day but it’s important to find a way that personally works best for you!
Do you get at least 8 glasses of water in a day? What do you do to drink more water? Have you tried any of the apps mentioned above? Download one of these tracker apps or use the daily habit tracker included in my Wellness Vision Guide or Hydrate Guide you can access both here.
Cheers to staying hydrated!
